If DF assigns a level 60 BLM (ilevel scary) and a level 30 BLM to Sastasha so both are synced to 18(? - I think) then are they both equal in stats? Including weapon and/or magic damage, defense, etc.?
New tanks lose aggro to "over geared" players. I'm curious about what exactly that means. How overgeared can they really be if they're synced?

The problem is that syncing sets all the stats of your gear to the ones possible on hq items available for the synced level.
So every synced player is extremly well equipped for the instance, while a new player will usually not have the best in slot items for his level. -

BUT there is one big downside to level syncing... some of your abilities may not work at the level one is synced to! Wasn't fun in the middle of a fight when one of my necessary spells (gives Umbral Ice) didn't work until I saw on screen it teling me it's doesn't work at the level I got synced to!

However, in your example, there's a lot more potential to be equal. Since they're both over the cap, they'll both be sync'd to the cap (assuming the BLM is max geared). But there's yet another nuance: level 30 gear stat distribution is a lot difference from level 50 and beyond. For example, healers and casters share gear pre-50, so it has mnd *and* int, and probably doesn't have as much of the off stats to go around.
