Even with a lot of problems with the alpha and beta, I always told my self, the final released version will iron out all those bugs and broken systems, lag UI, repetitive leves. XIV came out with big disappointment, I used to log in XIV everyday since April, but then I decided to return back to XI early November 2010 for the Abyssea expansion.
Basically all the negative points the OP listed in XI (cookie cutter pt, pld need rdm, no brd, no pt, no thf no drop, etc.) are all fixed with a single expansion. There are just too much stuff to do in XI it completely put XIV to shame.
Now i only login XIV for the craftleve, thats once every 3 days for 1-2 hrs, and my rest of gaming time are back on XI. XI is just too big of a success, SE really did a great job on it. It makes me wonder, why 2 games made by the same company, could be this big of a difference.
