I'd say, leave the real life wink-nods to WoW, with their ridiculous "Night Elf Mohawks", Haris Piltons and other stupid crap. Blizzard shed any pretense of trying to maintain a unique, self-contained and internally consistent world years ago. Let them continue to carry that torch. In fact, I would be surprised if the OP's reference didn't show up in WoW.

I cringe at the blatant real-life references throughout FFXIV as it is, like the stupid "leviabeetus" bit, or some of the FATE names. If they absolutely have to break the 4th wall, I'd say they're already doing more than enough in that regard.

SE has more than proven they're perfectly capable of adding unique fun/funny stuff to the game, taken from their own imaginations, without having to resort to real-life references to do so. And better still, the humor is rooted in Eorzea and its culture, etc, which fits much better and makes the world that much more detailed and believable.

They've proven they can come up with interesting/unique dances and fun poses/emotes on their own.

Would much rather see them go more along that path, adding more unique things to flesh out XIV's world more, and steer away from the "get it? see what we did there?" type wink-nods.
