I've read some posts about people dropping Grit for damage. I could see why you would do this as an off-tank, but am I supposed to be dropping Grit for Blood Weapon on CD? Or just if I need MP? Or at all while MT in a dungeon or raid?

I personally only do it on no damage from the Boss Phases (Long casts etc.), and pop Grit Back on before attacks start back up.
I'm not pro or anything so I may be "doing it wrong." But I've had no complaints thus far that I am aware of.
As much as possible.
The main issue I find with dropping grit is aggro issue if the dps is top notch, so I start off with grit til I feel comfortable enough and then switch it off, I average 6-700 dps.
The other issue is heals if you feel like the healers are derpy you'll wanna stay in grit longer as well
Thanks for the responses! I guess my main concern is becoming too squishy while out of Grit. Seems like a delicate balance that I'm not very familiar with.
Don't. The net MP gain is very minimal. Blood Weapon might gain you 2,000 MP.... but Grit costs 1300 to put back on.
Don't do it for the MP, but if you need the extra DPS it might be worth it.
The biggest issue is that Grit costs a lot of MP to put back up, so dropping it later in your DRK life (50+) eats up a sizeable block of your MP in one shot. You can do it, but I would advise against it unless you're so far ahead in threat you can afford to just spam syphon strike for a while to make up the difference.
Dropping Grit specifically for Blood Weapon's MP is not really going to treat you well. Most of the gain is eaten up by putting it back on, and you're dropping GCDs.
But you should drop grit sometimes because you want to do more damage. So you'd use blood weapon then.
When you're stance dancing, be sure to focus on using the highest potency stuff you can.
against most dps, 2-3 da'd power slashes will be enough for the whole fight.
grit is something you have to treat with care op. you drop grit when you know a big hit isn't coming, and your healers won't panic.
the problem is when you stance dance constantly with it (which is something that grit just doesn't allow). your also forgetting the ss increase and the constant syphon strike spam, along with c&s, plunge, and low blow (reprisal too when mt) (overall it can top off your mp quite fast when combined)
otherwise as others have said, drop grit for the damage, not the mp regen granted by blood weapon.
