Theorycraft: The Psychic (Caster DPS)

Knowledge is power, and in the psychic's case this is true beyond measure. Powerful telekinetic attacks are employed that expose enemy weaknesses and control the battlefield. Focuses on instantaneous casting and dancing on the edge of losing control.

Hover above the ground. (Purely Cosmetic)

Potency: 100
Combo From: Distortion
Combo Effect: 180 Potency
Additional Effect: Inflicts 1 stack of Distortion
[Distortion] (1% Vul. down, 5 stacks maximum for 10 seconds).

Lv.6. Psychic Lash (Spell)
Potency: 10
Additional Effect: 40 Potency DoT lasting 15 sec.

Lv.8. Increased INT (Trait)
Increases INT by 2.

Lv.10. Amplification (Ability)
Effect: Grants the caster 1 stack of Amplification (2% damage increase, max 5 stacks). Lasts 20 seconds.
Recast: 5 sec

Lv.10. Release (Ability)
Potency: 100 per stack of amplification
Additional Effect: MP Drain (1/4) of damage
Cost: All stacks of Amplification

Lv.12. Resonate (Trait)
Adds slow effect to Reverberate. 5 Second duration.

I've really wanted to play a caster dps but with the current setup there is little room for mobility. With the changed to brd I feel that it might be decent to introduce a new job that can focus on damage while not compromising mobility. I haven't really been bothered to go through and calculate an average dps and on paper it does seem fairly overpowered, although without a source of haste or strong damage boost it may work out.

My current concern with this is that the synergy may be too strong with out casters since it can basically have foe's requiem on full time (contemplating altering it so the two cannot stack). During downtime and soloing the psychic can bring utility via (limited) shields and heals.

I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts and maybe we can get this noticed if there is enough interest. I think there is promise here.

This sounds really cool and I would be interested to see it in action. I do have to ask though, is psychic a job that has been in other Final Fantasy games?

It made an appearance in XII International/HD Remake (and it was really powerful), but the original idea actually came from Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 (Yuriko Omega was beast).
