Random controller and keyboard input "lag"

Randomly my keyboard and controller (happening at the same time) seems to frequently lock up - I'll be running and it will continue to move me in that direction for 2-3 seconds even though I moved the joystick. This happens on the keyboard as well, for example - when I type it'll continue to press a key I pressed.. ending up with something like "Hello guys Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii." I saw a thread like this that was places in resolved but with no reply on how to resolve it. Both devices are wireless and FFXIV is the only software I'm having trouble with.

All drivers, Windows and components are up to date.
