I experimented with a couple of items from the set in my loadout and I think its something situationally interesting to play with, but I don't think I would actually use it in PVP due to the dropoff in secondary stats that add up fast... forfeiting several items' worth of Spell Speed, Crit, Det has negative impacts to damage output beyond what you see with attack potency numbers. It could be fun to play with in unsynched ARR content however.
They're not worth it. You lose HP AND damage per piece if you're a DPS/Tank. And if you're a healer, your focus isn't to mix stats up like that in general since cleric stance isn't a thing, so you want full on healing(Though even if cleric stance was still a thing, higher Mind would still be higher damage).
They create an ok balance of stats, but honestly, you're better off going full into PvE gear setup and prioritizing high damage for a stronger presence instead of being a hybrid with low HP, low damage, and the ability to self heal more. Frontlines is about team battles, rarely 1v1, so focusing on beefing up your self healing is a waste.
Plus, the only time it will help is if you're not even in combat and need to top yourself off. Unless you can run and cast like Astros, you're going to die anyway. That or you'll be CC locked and die even faster. Also, they have no secondary stats, you'll be bloated in stats you don't even use.
It's a glamor thing mostly.
I've found a couple useful situations for it in PVE but I wouldn't go all out and trade all secondary stats on all left side.
If you compare the stats on it versus the dungeon i160 gear (the green ones), the field commanders equipment actually give less stats too. I think it was +39 vs + 46 or something for the hat... It's really just used for glamour
Okay so it's only for glamour then, thanks for the reply guys :)
