Additional service option.

Was just thinking how nice it would be if SE could add another service option to the mogstation in the form of character merging. By merging I mean charging players to merge pre-existing characters from the same account as long as they are present on the same world. The process being select first character to merge (primary) and then one of your other characters to merge with it (secondary).

The second character would no longer exist once merged and the system would take the highest class/job level from whichever character and keep it same if primary character has highest of the class or replace the primary class if with the secondary ones level of that class if that is higher. So for example if primary is level 14 fisher and secondary is level 50 fisher the primary fisher level becomes 50, it is not added on to the primary, it is replaced because it is the higher of the two. Likewise is the primary fisher is 50 and secondary is 14 the primary one remains at 50.

Would need to put in place a limited time retainer in game to hold all the gear and items of that secondary character for which when log back in to the primary one you can retrieve them (player makes room for it all if their primary ones retainers and storage are all full before taking things from the temporary retainer) in essence not much different from the housing temporary item holding retainer. All items get transferred including gear (theones that were equipped and those which were stored in armoire), character storage items and retainer stored items plus the minions/mounts get merged adding any additional ones from secondary to primary if primary lacked it. The achievements/titles I am not sure about what to do with.

The gil from both get's merged and the player gets a single free fantasia in case they want to change their primary appearance to that of their secondary character now merged and deleted. Perhaps could charge maybe 30GBP for the character merge in mogstation or something like that. I am sure other things I have missed but in general I think would be pretty cool new feature to add to mogstation. Perhaps others can think of ways to improve the suggestion or express their hatred of it or whether they maybe like the idea.

You are rewarded more during the main story quest which is only doable once per character. If any merging happens, classes and achievements should not be merged. You should choose one character to be the final character, and all levels, achievements, minions, event records etc on other characters are ignored and lost.

Which would defeat the purpose of a character merge.

Having different characters allows you to progress faster in some ways (such as double lockouts, double weekly caps). The fruits of that advantage needs to go away along with the character merge.
