Change for Steel Cyclone?

hello. since the Wrath now applies a Parry buff, i thought maybe we could see something done with Steel Cyclone. i personally don't feel losing a 10% buff to Parry rates worth using Steel Cyclone.

i was thinking maybe something like a bleed effect, or an accuracy down effect.


does it necessarily need to be changed? no... the skill is great, just not worth trading Parry for Enmity. i don't think it would be so bad to at least see the skill receive a higher Enmity multiplier. it was just an idea. either way, it is what is. meh.

I miss 1.0 Steel Cyclone.

I would agree, if Parry was worth anything at all. As it stands, it's like a consolation prize. The utility of SC in huge pulls is still pretty great, especially when everyone needs to do a lot of damage really fast.
Or is a Jerk Black Mage™ for whom Quelling Strikes is against their religion.

i dunno... i find a 20% reduction to damage with a successful Parry quite worth it. and in a larger pull, Parry is going to become all that much more useful. more chances to actually Parry. i see Parry often enough.

Steel Cyclone DOES have decent enough damage, though. so maybe a bleed effect wouldn't be a sound addition. raw damage output shouldn't be a tanks primary concern.

i still find Inner Beast very much worth using. it returns some HP and applies a damage reduction buff. the only real trade-off we get with Steel Cyclone is the Enmity generation.

i think maybe if it could become an action not used on the Global Cool Down that would maybe make it worth using again. or maybe some kind detrimental effect applied to the enemy. i just don't feel it is currently worth sacrificing that 10% buff to Parry to use Steel Cyclone.

I think it's ok atm, it does ignore the damage penalty from Defiance (which I never really realized until I re-read the tooltip 1 week ago >_>), decent damage, aoe around you instead of a cone, it doesn't cost any tp, looks badass, generates hate and it's instant. Used it quite a lot during my leveling to 60 because others kept joining with full i170 gear which was tough to hold hate at some points (especially vault).

I wouldn't say no to an additional aoe bleeding dot debuff, that'd sure make it more enticing to use for sure (and it would fit the brute force theme WAR has).

It's still worth using. If you think that 10% parry is worth keeping your stacks, you're absolutely wrong. Using SC does build awesome AoE enmity as well as doing pretty good damage WITH FUCKING 0 TP COST. Plus it scales so good with Berserk + Bloodbath for self-heals that 10% more parry rate is complete garbage in comparison.

Don't forget that parry rate is still parry rate. It's RNG. And it's only +10%.

If you happen to parry. Which with 5 wrath stacks is 10% more often, equating to an average of 2% additional damage reduction in the long run. If you never use your wrath stacks. And the monsters are in front of you.

If you're worried about mitigation, just use inner beast instead of holding onto the wrath stacks. Steel cyclone isn't for mitigation, it's for fast AoE threat, especially when you're surrounded.

But I do like the idea of steel cyclone having a chance to proc fracture on targets it hits.

adding Bleed sounds very cool. but personally, even though this could be little annoying, i would like to see little knockback in 360 degree would be really cool :D

And adding a bleed effect on SC which already does 200 potency without taking the Defiance damage penalty into account would make it superior to Decimate which does 280 AoE potency and is the Deliverance equivalent to SC. It would be stupid. SC is fine as it is. Maybe add a little side effect like the healing from 1.0, to get something equivalent to Inner Beast but for AoE situations. But that's all.
