FFXIV no direct X device detected + more errors

Details: Within 1-5 minutes of entering game i get mass artifacts and colors scrambling on the screen. then game will either disconnect and say no DirectX device found, Appcrash FFXIV.exe, Display Driver Stopped responing or just black screen and lock up so i have to force shut off

Steps: Just happens anytime just walking around all the time

Date & Time: Anytime i log on i cant stay connected for more than 5 mins
Frequency: Always
Platform: PC
PC Manufacturer & Model Number:homebuilt
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Graphics Card: 2x EVGA Hydrocopper 580 GTX SLI
ISP: Comcast
Type of Internet Connection: Cable

ive run many other games and even Crysis 2 on Ultra settings with no issues at all

saying you run crysis on ultra without issue does not help you on this :)

FFXIV sometime have issue with SLI maybe try windower and see what happen.

Also display what setting you playing ffxiv on.

I have ran the game with SLI turned off at 1920x1080 on standard settings and have also ran in windowed mode. When it crashes it looks like nasty artifacts like the GPU is dying.

take out one of the video card run it and see if it works then do the same for the other one. if one of them d/c you then there you go if both do then i see what else could be the issue.

also please tell me your setting for ffxiv.

Have you checked your card temps? I'm almost certain you're overheating.

If the cards are overheating at 36C then theres a problem. Also what setting are you talking about? FFXI just crashed with a display driver stopped working error.

Also switching one card at a time will take awhile cause they are water cooled.

your ffxiv setting like shadows high low and so on.

Its all set to Standard. It seems to crash faster the higher the settings are set though.

something is wrong with your video cards then. do you have them update and so on?
