"Dated" Equipment Naming? What.

And this troubles me somewhat. I feel the word does not do the weapon justice. Perhaps call it "Aging" or something that indicates that it has gone out of favor in comparison to the newer equipment?

When people in English-speaking countries see the same word over and over, and over for a long time, there's a bit of a gestalt breakdown over that word and it loses its meaning or it gets warped.

Sometimes to the point where people will end up saying, "Oh, so you dated your Iron Halberd?" (And this can be construed sexually or casually...)

So, I want to hear the community's suggestions on what we should name the "Old Generation" weapons, equipment, and items, as opposed to calling them "Dated".

Me, after consulting the Thesaurus over the "out of date" meaning of the word "Dated", I feel the word Archaic best describes these items. It means the item was created in times past, but could still retain its effectiveness compared to its contemporaries.

Well, it's a weapon made from an out-'dated' recipe, so dated does kinda work for the purpose :3

Only other idea I could think of is just calling them 'old' since it's an old recipe.

Old Bronze Dagger etc.

Aging would do less justice since they're not weapons that are showing signs of aging, just that it's an old fashioned (for sake of better example) dagger.

Dated is pretty universal in meaning 'old' so I don't actually see a problem with it, but English is my second language, so as you say "gone out of style/fashion", would be fitting to use 'Dated' since it is dated/out of style, mainly because "Archaic" is used as a negative term when it comes to MMORPGs so I'm sure they went with the next best word.

I'm a bit sensitive to these kinds of things, really. Words often easily lose meaning to me, so...

I'd vote to call them "Classic".

Just 'cos when someone starts waving a Dated Bronze Dagger around in 2 years time people are gonna be like "OMG WOW! :O"

Vintage.. no wait, hold on quick some one make a dated vintage huab after the patch for great comedy!

For all I know, dated equipment can have different stat to new equipment. Take Jade Crook for example, if they keep dated = current level 48, and the new one is level 45, there has to be a difference in term of stat somewhere.
