Where can I go

To discuss characters, story, and subjects of that nature?

This forum is mostly for discussing game mechanics and complaining about classes not doing their jobs.

I tried reddit. More of the same.

I'm afraid to try deviantart, because of obvious reasons.

Isn't there anywhere online where people don't discuss raids, dungeons, and hardcore stuff and instead discuss story, characters, and other things of that nature?

That's more of discussing storyline than it is characters. I'm talking about a place with things like fan art and story discussion.

Oh you mean player characters? No, then in that case I couldn't tell you. Deviantart would have been my first suggestion, but you already said no to that.

Are you talking about RP/RP resources? You could try starting up an RP thread here in Gen Discussion with the intent of keeping it an ongoing thing. There's a really small RP presence in the game but it's there. I think Balmung may have more RP than other servers, too.

It sounds like you're looking for the sort of thing that can be found on Tumblr. There are a lot of FFXIV roleplayers there who like to discuss the story and characters and who also draw fanart. I don't really participate myself but I do follow a bunch of them because I like their characters and the meta discussions they have about the world and the lore.

I mean people discussing their favorite NPCs, and things like that.

Then that would be either in Lore or here in the General Discussion. Lore is more around the story and back story of the characters, while here in the General Discussion, you'll have a harder time keeping it alive simply because people tend to stop talking about such after the first day or two once it gets pushed off of page 1 by threads talking more about game mechanics. I'm not saying you can't keep it alive, just that you shouldn't get your hopes up.....
