New Job Idea: Puppetmaster

Hello all! I'm at work (and haven't gotten anything done.) I also posted this on reddit.

Puppetmaster was my main and favorite Job from Final Fantasy 11. I have been playing FF14 for a little over a year now, and seeing all of the posts about Chemist and Blue Mage, etc. (and listening to MrHappy talk about wanting PUP) I decided to create a mock idea for one.

I had a lot of fun creating this, and am open to receiving feedback. I'll be making adjustments to the Google doc regarding TP/Cooldowns of abilities, etc. I hope you guys like it!

Okay, so here's my problem with this. What you've made sounds a lot like a summoner with direct spells vs DoTs. I'd rather BUILD my puppet and use it as a weapon instead of a spell to be summoned (meaning no switching in combat between puppets). For me, in FF11, the fun of puppetmaster was that there wasn't a grind fest for levels after you got it. You got levels while looking for parts and mods. I'd rather have that again that just another class with a pet in my opinion.

Commenting on OP's suggestion, the pets have too many abilities. The issue I have with Maneuvers is the risk of running into instances where you do nothing but input maneuvers (that and maneuvers sort of became the foundation for NIN Mudras). AI in this game is pretty wonky, so placing too much hope on the mammet/automaton wouldn't be a good idea, IMO.

I like that you want the master and mammet to use skills in tandem, but I'd scrap the whole skillchain bit (latency and lag would screw you over, for one). Unless I guess you want to involve a debuff of sorts, kind of the debuff 1.0 used to show the mob would be affected by combos. Kind of like you use your attack, the mob gets a debuff called "Combo!", and if the mammet does their attack, then you get the skillchain effect.

I figured Overload was more of a pacing mechanism in FFXI (since Maneuvers cost nothing but time), though I have to commend you on putting Overload to use in some way.
