Curious on opinion. Smn or Mch. Which would you pick?

Heya, so I had been leveling my Smn after starting to get frustrated with Blm and constantly losing Enochian buff before the cooldown was up in order to reapply it (mostly having issues with getting that fire in before it AF3 falls off and I'm stuck hard casting Fire 3), and been enjoying it. I also been leveling up Mch as I felt I gave it an unfair judgement at level 30 and have now fallen madly in love with the class as it gets me in all the right spots.

Mostly I've come to a stalemate in that I hear Mch is not all that great in dps and at the same time I enjoy it more than Smn. I love the idea of having support options for times where the group may need tp or mp regen, but at the same time I don't want to fill a slot that might be better with a higher dpsing class.

Anywho before I ramble on, I just wanted to see the opinion of players here on if you would pick Mch over Smn or vice versa and if you don't mind, sharing your reason for it. :)

If you're not invested in either class, to SMN. They have more DPS

What I want to tell you is pick based on preference. MCH dps is comparatively lower (whether its justified or not is a whole can worms that I'd rather not open), but its not low to the point that they should be benched in favor of another class. The idea group composition for dps is having two melees and 2 ranged.

In a raid scenario, both are desirable, it doesn't matter which does more because they fulfill different roles. Arguably SMN is in a safer spot in the caster role than MCH is in the support role, but it's not a big deal as of now, and probably not what this topic should be about.

For dungeons/maps/open world stuff, you can't beat SMN. The AoE SMN can produce is on another level, basically from level 30 on, and it just grows from 50-60.

It's worth noting too that MCH changes fairly significantly at 52 when they pick up Gauss Barrel (I'm not sure if you're that high level or not yet). Personally I liked MCH up until that point quite a bit, but actually with its combination of cast times and a large number of oGCD abilities, it reminds me of things that used to frustrate me about SMN in 2.0.

Though SMN doesn't provide MP or TP regen support, it does have a few support options in being able to raise in addition to Virus and Eye for an Eye.

Personally I don't really like SMN (SCH though... love SCH)... I just find it. Eh. I mean I'm gonna do the new job quests since I'll have ACN leveled anyway and I'll see if I like it then but...

Anyway I like MCH much more. Still fun, not as much pewpew but that doesn't matter. I like supporting my team members. Due to the way the procs for combos work, I can still move a ton even with Gauss Barrel on.. it's great.

The only thing that irks me is that if you get really bad lag it will just straight up eat a whole Reload stack. Mudra lag??? Whatever. Reload lag? :(

In this game you have to play what you love to play...and not worry about other factors. If you don't you are not going to enjoy yourself and that is the whole point of this game.
Summoner to me though seems more interesting with the new changes and all. But it is really complicated to play now.

I'd pick SMN because I really dislike MCH aesthetic.

Either one's efficacy is entirely dependent on your comfort with the class and general skill level - so I'd say, pick the one that seems more fun and/or looks cooler.

SMN all the way. It does solid single target damage and is king of AoE damage. I wouldn't skip over MCH due to damage output (really, it's good enough), but I don't find its RNG gameplay very compelling, especially when your ammo isn't available and nothing procs for 5 shots or more. That's just terribly boring.

I play both. Both are fun.
