How is item refunding for currency/tokens still not a thing?

If you've played WoW, you know what I mean. You save up your poetics/law/whatever, buy a piece, and have 2 hours to return to item and get a full refund. I know there's a confirmation dialogue for buying stuff, but this isn't really about mistake purchases, just about realizing the piece you bought wasn't the best upgrade and you'd like to go for another one.

Of all the other systems FF14 stole from WoW, why not this one? :confused:

It's not like there's a lot of choice. You either by the item for the job you're outfitting or you don't.

I didn't notice the missing confirmation dialog box when buying tomb stuff. That would be a pretty easy and useful feature to add.

If they added free returns within two hours you'd get people that would complain it wasn't three hours. There's no point in adding this because there willalways be someone that stupidly buys something they didn't actually want without doing any research. There's no helping these people beyond letting them screw themselves over and learning a lesson from it.

Just save your tomes until you're certain what you want to get. There's only one thing on offer per slot for your job anyway so it's not like it's particularly taxing to make a decision on.

I don't really think it's necessary. There aren't a vast array if choices. Each job only has one item per slot for each currency anyway, so often times an upgrade is an upgrade. You are also given the ability to try the item on and also compare stats to what you currently have. You should be able to make an informed decision on purchases. I can't imagine that buyer's remorse is such a huge problem that we néed a refund system. If it is, then players just need to take more responsibility for their decision making.

I did wish this was possible when i upgraded (for glamour purposes) my ironworks pants instead of the boots by mistake. Pants don't even show on that set! >.<
But it's not like that experience ruined my life, so i just learned to be more careful next time.

The reason why is because your one character can switch to every class. So you go do your raid as warrior for two hours, then go switch the weapon for a healer one, then 2 hours switch it for a dps one... you get the drift. Other MMORPGS with that implemented do not have the ability for one character to be more than one class. Is it frustrating when you buy the wrong thing? Sure. Should we have the refund option? Heck no, that can be so abused with the mechanics in this game.

While I think that people should just be careful and it's not needed, that particular issue would not crop up I think, otherwise you'd see it with glamour gear being passed around. Spiritbinding would be a simple block and it's already in the game. enter combat with it and it's locked until the end of time.

It's a good idea, but I don't think it's necessary for FFXIV. Like the others said, there's not exactly a wide range of options to choose from. Plus if you really wanted another piece, tomes aren't difficult to get.

As others said, you can still use the item on your char since we have the ability to play any role on one character.

It might be better if these types of items can be returned at any time, for maybe 1/2 the original tomes. That way you could spend them towards outfitting a class you don't play as much. It's true that you can trade them in for GC seals, but there's sooo many
ways of getting those already. As often as we seem to "outgrow" equipment in this game it seems like a good option.
