Question 'bout random yield+

What's causing this seemingly randomly occuring phenomenon:

Note the epicly well done photo editing (done on paint of course) to remove all unnecessary stuff on the picture, just the buffs and the gathering text I'm wondering 'bout.

Just to add, I haven't been paying attention to anything gathering related from since 2.2 or so, just now started gathering a bit crystals to make some gil and ran into this.

Anyone shed some light to this mystery?
