I've never been a fond of colorful UIs.

Hello everyone

So I've never been a fond of colorful UIs as they kinda distract me from enjoying the game visuals, if we can only have a transparency slider like the map transparency I would defiantly used it to lower the contrast of the colors while making the visuals on the back more visible. And, even a better option if we could have some UI style options, for example something with less colors or maybe maybe something suited to Ul'Dah style.

Want to see if there's people like me. At the end, it's just my humble opinion.

i dunno, i think it helps people know what they're using on the fly y'know, rather than glancing down and getting delayed because everything is *cough* 50 shades of grey

When the addon API is eventually out (if it ever gets done), people will be able to create custom UIs that are likely better suited to your tastes. Wouldn't hurt to have more options now though, so I agree entirely.

Only thing that really bothers me is that the text on the map is white on a light background. I can barely ever read any of it.

i kinda like the brighter colours, on the 42 inch tv i play on i use those colours to let me see how my HP MP and TP is doing while focusing on the boss :D
same with the chat log each of my linkshells are distinctive bright colours.

but i know thats not everyones taste, as mentioned above when / if they ever complete the API you can hopefully mod your UI to have it as dull PS3 generation colours :D


(a small joke on the fact ps3 said 'bright colours' and everything was dull or brown XD )

I'd like to see UI elements fade away when not being used (Like chat box/mini map/Hot bars after 30 seconds of no activity)

I'd also love to just get rid of the pop-ups that show up in the middle of my screen. The "FATE JOINED", "QUEST ACCEPTED", are obnoxious because they practically flash and are "glowey" with that overused airbrush effect. Even the small area names should have a toggle option. (those should just display in the chat log because I never actually remember the name of the area I'm in because of that 2 second pop up that I was trying to ignore because I was fighting or running from a mob lol)

I absolutely love some aspects of the UI, but it would make me love it 100x more if I had more aesthetic options and UI skin options etc. They've done a great job on the UI for the most part but a few more options would make it perfect.

Can we have more colourful menus as an option, too, please? I like shinies.

It's possible to set up a macro that toggles on and off UI elements - some folks on Reddit discovered this. For example, toggling off your duty list when you don't want it. But you can also do a lot of other elements, like extra hotbars, etc.

The macro I use to hide all my extra UI when I'm in battle:

/hud DutyList dlist
/hotbar display 7
/hotbar display 8
/hotbar display 9
/hotbar display 10
/hud Gil
/hud InventoryGrid
/hud MainMenu

I have this set as a single floating button on Macro Set 6, tucked up by my mini map, so if I need to pop it on in an emergency for whatever reason, I can. I don't turn off mini map though because that can be useful in battle.
