Flying Reaper
I will be very disappointed in Japan, capital of mecha, if the Ironworks never gets around to either adding a rocket pack to the Reaper or allowing it to transform into some kind of fighter. The latter option could keep the open cockpit in the style of Cross Ange's mecha.

The thing is, as cool as it would be, the magitek armour is not actually designed to fly. It's a ground based weapon system, so adding a jetpack or something to make it fly would be the same as adding wings to a tank in real life - an apparent upgrade that just won't work as well as it sounds on paper. And given the fact the Garleans already have flying machina/fighter craft for this reason (the chimney-like Juggernauts and those fighter craft found inside the Keeper of the Lake), no doubt their engineers realized this problem themselves and never bothered with it.
Having said that though, the Juggernauts, not the reapers, do have a 'ground mode' where they walk along the ground, but they're very unwieldy and are really sitting ducks for any reasonable artillery that happens to be lying in wait (why else do you see plenty of them lying derelict around Eorzea, and yet there is not a single broken reaper lying wrecked anywhere?). Their strength lies in flight not ground based attacks. So it basically shows the idea of 'combined flying/ground weapon that can transform between different modes' has been tried in Garlemald, and didn't work. Hence, it's just not possible I'm afraid.

Way back in 09/2010 with the 1.0 trailer they advertised the Juggernauts as being personal flying mounts.
I imagine we'd get those - or a deviation of them - at some point.
They would look kinda funny traveling on the ground, but I would use it~
(Juggernaut being those long/vertical cylindrical looking Imperial flight vessels)
