Completely lost please help

I downloaded Heavensward today through Steam. Before I registered the code through Mognet, i ran the game not knowing i hadn't downloaded the actual expansion. I ran it on DX11 and everything was fine. Then i got the expansion downloaded and now every time i launch the game it IMMEDIATELY crashes. Tried changing it to DX9 still crashes. What do i need to do? I updated my graphics card drivers. I really don't want to have wasted $40 on a game i can't even play. Please help!
