And note, "even if we were goin to change their appearance" - not sure if that's just the translation, but from this it feels like it might not even happen either.

You don't understand how the production process works. Before 3.0 hit while they were working on job adjustments, they considered the idea of adding more egis on top of what was already there, but they realized if they did that it would just create useless clutter, that's why SMN is the way it is now because of those changes.

The egi glamour is most likely an idea they came up with near the release of 3.0/later in the process but what you seem to be missing from their explanation is they don't want to half ass it. They could easily makea single skin and be done but instead they want to go the whole 9 yards. They want to make the skin, the unique animations, the unique sounds and effects and potentially unique names for abilities when using certain glamour egis. While they will of course offer no change in the abilities being used the idea is to offer more visual changes than for example Ramuh that still uses the Garuda animations for actions.

Why are you hanging onto promises that were never made?

IIRC they never actually committed to implementing this in the first place. They merely mentioned it as a possibility to compensate SMNs for the lack of new pets due to their change in design direction for the job.

The fact they've actually answered this question in the live letter at least means they now recognise that players do want this implemented which means it likely will happen now. I imagine we'll have to wait until 3.1 or 3.2 before we see it though. It'll be a low priority system to implement since it only impacts one (or potentially two or three) jobs.

Honestly it sound slike they want to do it right - they mention effects, sound, and actions as if they won't just be skins of the egi itself.

Honestly after bringing it up, and then putting in that TROLL lvl 50 quest they can't really back out of this now.

I'm not missing it, I'm just at a point where I simply can't be optimistic about what I hear and see ahead of the things actually happening. Re: housing; re: EB ceremony; re: (glamour) outfit gender balances; and so many little details in-between that I can't even be bothered to list.

But ok, let's suppose "they want to go the whole 9 yards", figure out and create all those details. To me, that basically sounds like new egis in general - so why not just do that? I don't see how us having options what to use would "create useless clutter".

garuda egi is "okay".. ifrit is the best looking i think.. titan totally worse.


And i never understood why they never used the primal skins, making them much much smaller and adding a shiny effect to them like carbuncle has.. finished..
because the argumentation "Primals are Gods in FFXIV they shouldnt be summoned by a player"... is complete nonsense.. even in FFXI you couldnt summon the original primes.. you also just summoned smaller avatar versions of them.



Summoners should be able to cast the carbuncle pets, if you ask me.
They also should add 1 group buff for each pet. Carbuncle for example "Shiny Ruby" for increased magic defense for short duration ..
