Job Types

I wanna make 1 of each role, i have chosen some that i want but i want some opinions on others since i had a big break and lost alot of time (shame on me)

Phys Melee - Ninja
Phys Ranged - Machinist
Magic ranged - Summoner
Healer - Scholar

If any has any advice or another type (soz no tank dont like it....) please dont hesitate to put anything down

All the jobs have their ups and downs, really depends on what you look for in those specific types of roles.

Like the differences between the healers. WHM has the largest cures and best heal over time spells, SCH has the best barrier spells and has a fairy to help healing, and AST has the ability to use HoTs or barriers as well as having a pretty random (but effective) party member buffing system with cards.

Or DPS roles? Want more utility or damage? Like a specific weapon or playstyle over another?

Give them all a shot before settling i'd say, even tanks. Might surprise yourself and like a specific job you didn't list as your choices over all else. I started as Bard on my main and made my alt character a white mage. Now I'm a full time WHM on my main and am getting my alt through 3.0 on Paladin. Now i want to main AST on my main too lol.

I sorta wanted the same..I at least wanted to try to play all basic roles so I understood my main (Bard) better.
I ended up liking healing much more than I thought, so now it's my secondary. But yeah, I say give all the roles a try. Sometimes you'll know if a job isn't for you (I still hate MNK...sorry monks) and sometimes you'll fall in love with a role.

And what File2ish said, roles can be very different. I don't like DRG but I love NIN, and both are close-combat melee. Same with SCH and WHM... I'm an all right scholar but I can't WHM myself out of a wet paper bag.

And with tanking..I also hate it. I got my PLD to max level because I said to myself "I still need to give this a shot". I'm glad I did. Am I going to continue to level it? Mmmmmm probably not. I still hate tanking. But now I understand it better, why certain tanks do things...why certain tanks DON'T do things. It also really helps as a healer.

Thanks heaps looked at other forums too and scholar seems to be the way to go
