The Crafter's Book...

Well it seems as long as I max out my rank I can make almost anything if I have the mats...why not make this more adventurous for the crafter? Everyone is crying where's the crafter play content. Well how do we fix player crafting if you think it needs fixing that is...

I have a simple idea. It's so simple it may be a genius idea. Unique recipe books...no longer is the crafter just able to make anything just because they are of rank/level. You must acquire said recipes by doing special quests for NPCs throughout Eorzea. Upon completing a quest you gain the recipe and know how to craft an item. Your recipes are unique to you and you can only craft the recipes you've earned. Recipes that require special key items that you have earned to craft certain new items.

Another idea to make crafting fun is a crafting Iron Chef like event held once a week...where crafters come to challenge other crafters to be craft king...

Side note: Fishing competitions, gathering competitions, etc said idea would be great to add living weekly player driven content with prizes to be awarded.

Note: I didn't mean unique as in only 1 person can craft said item. I just meant your craft book is unique to you. Others can't take it and craft what you've already learned.

Another side note to this also is...a skill of deconstruction. It allows you as a mini game to deconstruct parts of an item. You must have all the required class/job skills at the right levels to do so. A deconstructed recipe will be noted as such and since you never learned the perfect way to craft the item until you do...you can only craft NQ of that item.

the recipe book was mentioned long ago. it seemed like most people loved the idea of either having to get the recipe through the leve rewards and each recipe they give you adds that one to your book or actually making the item yourself.

if they instituted the idea of through leves i would love to have them go back through my time and add the recipes i have already used/received as leve rewards to my list.

i'm not much about doing a bunch of odds and end quests to learn each individual recipe though. if it was certain new items i would agree, but not each individual item.

Ah yeah...I guess I'm thinking for more high leveled or special items. Like a restricted items craft book...I sent so many crazy ideas to SE back in the day hoping they'd implement maybe one of my treasured ideas...he hee.

A crafty craft fair to become the craftiest crafter in all of craftdom.

I like the idea of special recipe books, it would certainly make a crafter seem much more valuable if they could create extraordinary gear if they take the time and effort to get hold of the book and it's materials. It could even liven up city shouting as people try to find crafters that have one of those special recipes.

I don't mind the recipe book idea.

It's always fun being the only person on the server who knows the recipe for something. But knowledge spreads quickly, so it's not often that you can maintain a monopoly for very long. I think a recipe book which restricted mastery of certain items to certain crafters would help to give each crafter a sense of purpose, even if it did create division between crafters at the same time.


But don't count on getting anything like this.

Crafting is probably being downplayed. And most crafting will be "materia crafting" nowadays. yay... materia homogenisation of all crafting classes!!

yeah, that i would love. to me each person should have their own crafting book. there should be recipes you figure out, recipes given to you during leves, and i like your idea of having certain high end things that require a quest to be able to do. to me it would be a nice addition.

perhaps not gained through leves though. well, not battlecraft leves anyhoos.

perhaps through quests issued by the craft guilds and occasionally through craft leves.

would get crafters out and about more and make the guilds a little more important

This could be the new purpose of the training books you get through guildmarks.

no i what i was talking about is when you turn in completed local leves they actually give you the recipe for an item. i was just talking about that recipe that they give you is entered into your book.

i hope they put those back into usage during the actual crafting again and not keep them out completely.
