New player healer help request

I am new to FF14 and I have started a conjurer. I have so far enjoyed playing a healer class more than I really thought I would.

I entered Satasha last night. It was the first time I played a healer in a group. I hung back and cast Aero to start some fights, but mostly I remained focused on healing the tank. I forgot to turn off Cleric stance at first, but quickly fixed that.

Things were okay at first, but then the tank started pulling entire rooms and it became difficult to heal him through fights. The first time he did this I was chain healing but he still was down to less than 10 HP at one point. I managed to get him back up to full health before the next fight when he again pulled every mob he could find. He had a total HP pool of just over 500 and at the end of this fight I had healed him to about 300 when he ran off to the next room and started another fight.

This time when he pulled every mob in sight, I was unable to heal him enough and he died and the group wiped.

I was taking the shortcut back when the tank asked in group chat if I was dual boxing. He then asked the group to boot the healer. I asked him how fast he thought I could heal and got no response. He proceeded to pull an entire room again before I could even buff the group.

I decided at this point that I would just do something else and left the group. I had been playing a tank before starting this conjurer and have never left a duty group before, but it was late, I was tired, and just didn't feel like continuing in this situation. I mean, I play to relax and have fun.

I would like to know for my own peace of mind if there is something a level 18 conjurer can do to keep a tank alive other than buffing with Protect before a fight and then casting Cure as quickly as possible? It seems to me that until I get more spells there isn't much more I can do except throw in the occasional dmg spell if I get a chance.

I really feel that any tank that would run into a major fight at 60% HP and do no damage mitigation himself and then complain about the healer is just out of line, but I am willing to hear other points of view.

First off! You can edit your post to get past 1000 char limit. Annoying yes but some people ruined it for everyone essentially.

As for this situation: I assume the tank was probably one used to end game style tanking, which does indeed involve lots of pulling. That said it was only possibly because of a lot of overgearing, which due to the level sync wouldn't be there for Sastasha. I actually say you did pretty well givin the situation, and some people really do need to think before they do somethin like that.

In the first 3 dungeons I almost never take off cleric stance for trash, since there is normally very little healing to do in between bosses. Even boss fights require little healing if people know what they are doing.

You ran into an idiot. It happens (even at higher levels).

Your assesment is correct - especially at your level, it's basically "Make sure Protect was on and spam Cure". There's very little you can actually do to amplify your healing capabilities beyond that. Similarly, that tank has very little mitigation-related abilities at that level and is tanking purely on raw stats pretty much. Even if pre-Halatali dungeons don't hit hard, they can still overwhelm players who get cocky.

At later levels you'll start having vastly more tools to save tanks from their own stupidity; but that's later.

In general you shouldn't mass pull in low dungeons, no. The tank should have seen that you couldn't handle it and adjusted his pulling accordingly.

I have to agree with everyone here. Even if you forgot to switch out of cleric stance at some points I see little you could change. The healing mechanic at low level is very simple and you really only spam one or two skills. Frankly there was no reason for the Tank to attempt any sort of kick. Really, it is the tank's responsibility to assess the skills/capabilities (based on gear, relative newness, etc...) of the team and adjust play style accordingly. It sounds to me like you got stuck with an impatient tank who long ago forgot that MMOs are about cooperation and teamwork.

It is silly to chain pull in the lower level dungeons since the dpsers barely have any aoe attacks.

Your tank was a dumbass.
