So I was maxed out preHW but now as I am leveling crafting again, trying to decide when and if to upgrade/meld gears. My current plan is getting everything to 55-56 and melding the gears there using lucis main and lv 53 hq offhand until 56. With script gear being best at 60...at least for now...does it make sense to meld out the 55 gear to make hitting 60 easier or can you get by with just hq gear without melds?
Scrip is not the best gear at 60. Just use the quest reward gear until you can craft the level 60 gear.
im using my lucis max meld gears and it works just fine to craft lvl 60 pieces and collectables i dont even see the need for specialization yet due to the fact that u have to get scripts to buy more does not seem viable as yet. i did upgrade all my pieces to 60 and crafting with older rotations work just fine and smoother. so dont stress it use what u got until u can get the 60 pieces.
I'd probably just focus on getting the scrip gear, and then save all the overmelding for the lvl 60 gear. I suppose if you have the resources or the materia to spare, I suppose you can meld a lvl 55 set, but I would save the BiS melding for the end. Of course, if you want to do it twice, then by all means.
I got the scrip gear for now and am waiting to see what Red Scrips provide before making any further decisions.
