This has been something I have been considering the last couple days. When Lahabrea was 'killed' by King Thordan he was absorbed the eye of Nidhogg that was in the Thordan's sword.
Lahabrea was significantly weakened after his battle with the WoL, which may have made the capture of his essence much easier. I believe consensus on this forum is that this didn't fully destroy the Ascian soul, rather Lahabrea has become trapped in Ninhogg's eye (which is a massive aether battery).
Following Thordan's defeat this eye along with the other long held by the Azure Dragoon, use Estinein as a host in the recreation of Nidhogg's form. Whether or not this form is the true Nidhogg is up for debate (until future patches), but what I believe is significant is that Nidhogg now retains inside himself an Ascian soul. Could it be possible that Lahabrea, though weakened, may reassert himself in the future and manipulate this vengence fueled recreation of Nidhogg?
I believe it offers up significant possibilities with regards to the threat Ascians pose, as they have become something of a paper tiger of late compared to the power possessed by the WoL. I am interested to see how this and the Warrior of Darkness develop the power of the Ascians

I expect Lahabrea to remain trapped and powerless in the Eye until we kill Nidhogg for good, whereupon he manages to flee so he can continue to be the face of the Ascians and oppose us in further expansions. Just speculation though.

Never doubt the ways characters can come back to life in fiction. Totally expecting us to save Eistinien, only for Lahabrea to bodyjack him for a bit before finally being out down.
Also read that as Lalabrea for some reason. I kinda want that now. -

Well we never know I mean we did see Nanamo die in front of our eyes but nooo she still lives... So its possible for Lahabrea to have stayed alive...However has anyone ever thought that maybe Elidibus isn't who he says he is..I mean he talked bout how balanced must be restored and how the mortals action are helping the awakening or rejoining or whatever it was called - He also spoke to Urianger and told him how they need to work together to save this star and this is just a Theory but he might be the kid who we talked to in Waking sands before doing Bismark EX in disguise..

Well, Elidibus was initially the guy who carried the Serpent's Zodiac Stone (related to the Ophiuchus/Serpentarius constellation, known as the Serpent-Bearer) in Tactics.
The brightest star in the Serpens (The... well, Serpent) constellation is Unukalhai, the name of our little kid who loves the murder of Primals.
Obviously, it doesn't confirm anything, but with Squeenix's love for symbolism... :p
