Gaming laptop video card
I know desktops inside and out, but I am curious about some of the newer gaming laptops and their strange video cards.
Right now I have 2 desktops, an i7 with 6gb ram and gtx280, and a q6600 with 4gb ram and gtx280. I am going to part with the q6600 and pick up a laptop, but I don't know how the video cards compare.
I have found a couple different ones and would like to compare them to what I see currently, but can't find good comparrisons. I see the GT540, GT335, GT340, GT260m and GT260m SLI.
Can anyone tell me how any of those will perform against my GTX280? Currently I'm getting 60fps in the wild at mid-high settings, 40fps in town. Will I be able to enjoy the same quality video with these other cards?

It's easy to pull up the spec and reviews on the cards along with charts to make comparisons.
But given your putting a hi end of its generation against budget cards with a lot less power and memory..
Id say the 540 is the only one likely to give a decent performance in comparison.
(This is without compairing them poroperly i've not looked at card of that spec for gaming sorry)
Not helpful really lol, Sorry

This is sort of what I was looking for:

Toms Hardware used to have a comparrison, so did laptopreview, but they're all gone. I can get a good idea from specs when seeing htem side by side.

Also, yeah the gtx280 was premier, however finding the high end cards in laptops is either impossible or completely out of any normal person's price range.

http://www.notebookcheck.net Gives expected FPS on many games per card that you look up.
Random Example is a GTX580m on Crysis 2
Crysis 2 (2011)
low: 189.1 fps
med: 121 fps
high: 100 fps
ultra: 35 fps
Edit: not saying you need to go get that model of card (for $600+ on several different vendor sites as an option, it's not really worth it), just clicked the first link on site as an example. :p

This ranking has all of the mentioned cards. You will notice that your old GTX 280 eats those mobile GPUs for breakfast and then some.

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks.
