Stone/Tree Whisperer V
What does it do exactly? I knew that previous "Whisperer" traits gave things like +1 gathering chance or +10% gathering chance and other such bonuses if you meet the statistical requirement. But when I got Tree Whisperer V on my BTN, I didn't really pay attention to this, so I don't know/remember what was new moving from level 52 to 53.
A friend was asking me what this does. So I thought about it and didn't really know. I asked if it was the +30% HQ, the +25% gathering, the +2 gathering attempts... she said that she saw all of those before level 53 when learning this trait. So I was stumped.
Anyone has a clue?

General HW nodes seem to come in sets of three pairs. Get these two, run over there get those two, run to a third spot get those two, and then run back to the first pair.
Even though they can appear at the same spot as the last time, the node effects can be different. One tree might be +2 Gathering Attempts one time, and nothing the next.
I think that this trait increases the chances of having special node characteristics.

It seems to add in the possibility of getting +2 gathering attempts, or +30% HQ chance on some nodes. I'm willing to bet this effect can extend to Shard/Crystal/Cluster farming as well, but I have yet to try. When farming those, you had special conditions that would pop on nodes to increase the yield of them, like have x elemental resistance and get +1 yield. It would be really nice if there were more options for farming those up. I'm looking at the new trait Nymeia's Ward, "Occasionally increases yield for items without HQ versions. Conditions for increase can be confirmed by using Preparation." This may be kind of the same thing as Whisperer traits, but for things like crystals.
