Can we turn the mini-map off?

I would like to be able to turn the mini-map off. I would also like to be able to control the size of the map window and its transparency when it's open.

Also, do any of you access the map from the menu? Or do we all just hit m or select/back ? I'm thinking eliminating it from the menu might be a possibility, since there are multiple other ways of accessing it.

What do you guys think about these features or what features would you like to see regarding the map? Markers are a given, and are coming at some point I believe the devs have said, but what else?
