How does this work?

They are similar to the Master crafting books. However, instead of unlocking recipes you unlock Unspoiled Nodes

Is it a permanent unlock? Or do you have to keep using them to maintain access to that node?

This give me no details on how they work. "How does it work", so it doesn't answer the question. I just have unusable info that they are related to unspoiled nodes now... not usable.

For miner and bot, there is a special page for it. And it unlocks special timed nodes that you normally don't have access too

So these are permanent unlocks, not temporary, and you can have as many as you want?

Its permanent. Each book seems to unlock two nodes.

You use the book once, and now you have access to those respective nodes. Those nodes behave like unspoiled nodes. They are only open for ONE hour during the 24 hour cycle.

Here's an example of a map I purchased:

I bought Tome of Geological - Abalathia. This unlocked two nodes:
-Sea of Clouds 5am (Sun Mica)
-Azys Lla 7am (Red Alumen)

Prior to purchasing this map, this mining location never showed up for me.

Okay, thank you. The way it was advertised, I thought it was going to be the gatherer version of Specialization rather than Master Books, like you could only have so many active at once. Good to know how it really works before I get there!

I'll caution you about the mining nodes. Almost all the items you can get have no use at this moment. This will likely change very soon. I suspect these items will be needed fro red scrips

Also, you need 600+ gathering otherwise you have 0% chance of getting the item. In order to get HQ you need 656 perception (might no be exactly this value, but its close).
