Quick Noobie Question

I couldn't find information relating to my question so:

Are all the Market Wards connected or are they separated by the 3(?) cities? For example, if I item search in Gridania, am I also searching items in Ul'Dah?

Stupid question but it seems like my Market Ward in Gridania (Wutai) sucks and is bereft of most everything.

They are separate. Every one is in Ul'dah.
