Leveling to 60 on the way to Heavensward?

Hi guys :)

My first forum post (Been playing RR since PS4 beta in Feb last year) though not sure if this is the right place to put it.

I'm very VERY tempted by Heavensward but I've still got all the 90 or so post game quests that have been implemented up to 2.5 before I can actually access the Heavensward content....

I was just curious if for example I brought Heavensward now; while completing this 90 odd quests on the way to the new content would the exp from those quests (If there is any!) start leveling me from 50-60 as I progressed.

So hypothetically by the time I reached the new content I might be 52 for example? Or can you only level above 50 once you enter Ishgard regardless of when you buy the expansion?

Many thanks for the help here; it's by no means a deal breaker, I'm just curious if it's worth getting it now for potential extra levels or if I should perhaps wait until I'm up to the end of 2.5 story-wise before I purchase it?

Yes if you buy HW you will start gaining EXP and leveling up without going into Ishgard.

I did the old story on an alternative toon lvl 50. I started on the Levi story and reached heavens ward after two long nights. And had half of my xp bar fill.

The main story quests give about 4500 xp with the expac. It adds up after a while though, about halfway to 52 and I've only just defeated Leviathan.
