Stuck on loading screen when entering Coerthas Western Highlands

Description:

Every time my character tries to enter Coerthas Western Highlands (except the first time i entered), I get indefinetely stuck at the loading screen ("now loading" in bottom right, animated marker, black background with area name in the middle).

After that, any attempt to log in results in a zone loading screen ("now loading", animated postmoogle moving, coerthas background) with no progress at all. The only way to recover from this is to contact the GM service from another character and get them to move the bugged character back to the starting city.

I've been in the zone once to gather materials and left soon after. Since then, I've been unable to enter the zone. Teleport and chocobo to the zone gets me stuck on the loading screen with no progress at all (30+ minutes waited). I'm also unable to enter the zone by foot due to a barrier in front of the transition border.

I've tried relogging, resetting game settings, rebooting, and reinstalling the game. I've also tried using a different computer and a different connection to no avail.
Uptodate drivers and tried both with and without directx11 options.

When that character is bugged, I can enter the game by using another character, but that character is "doomed" until someone nudges it back to safety.

I can enter "Foundation" without any issues, and I can also enter "Sea of Clouds" without any issues.

Theory/Speculation:
If I try to enter by foot, the transition border in "Foundation" has a barrier in front (image). This makes me believe that there's a quest step I need to do before being able to enter "on my own", and since I left before I could get to that step, my character is now stuck between "having access to the area" (teleport/choco) and "not supposed to be able to enter".

I hope that the issues can be resolved fast, since it's barring me from playing the expansion. I'm unable to progress in the main questline, and I'm unable to gather materials for crafting while I'm waiting for a solution, since I need to enter the bugged zone to get them.
