Client behavior upon switching sound devices

We're into the game's first expansion and now using the significantly improved DX11 client. However, we still can't switch audio devices (Ex: Speakers to USB Headset) without having to restart the client.

It's 2015, why the heck does your client forget how to playback audio when you switch default devices? Why is this annoying quirk even still around 5 years into this game's life? Have the devs really overlooked such a crucial QoL feature for so long?

Add an option in the sound settings if you have to to force the client to use your preferred device to force it to update. Any way you handle it is fine by me, as long as you handle it. This is a problem of games from 2005 and earlier, SE, it is 2015.

That annoy me too... most of the times I just put the normal phones and tell to FC that I cant chat atm unless you want me to restart the client.

Ya its annoying. I usually prefer to play without my headset on but if I hop into voice chat I want to switch to my headset so people in voice chat dont have to hear feedback from my speakers. Sadly that requires me to restart the client so I usually just turn my speakers off or way low when i get into voice chat.

I have to agree. Having to log out and restart the client when I have to put my headest on for something is super annoying. Especially during EA there were points where my wireless headset needed a charge but i didn't want to log out so i just played with no music. Bummer.

Ya, I have similar issues. My headphones will sometimes become disconnected or unplugged (using an extension cable and i think it has issues.) Anyway, every time it disconnects on me, I have to completely restart my client for the sound to kick back in. Sound works everywhere else on my computer when it reconnects except for FFXIV.
