i find it really hard to take Alphinaud seriously

this "child" is supposedly the leader of the alliance/crystal braves/whatever?
that dude looks like he'd have broken bones if bumped the wrong way.

i hoped he'd become more like Hope from ff13 where he was a wuss but matured into proper leader as time goes on with our guidance just like hope did under ligthning, but so far, nope.

he hasnt done anything big. hasnt really grown physically or mentally

at least SE finally realized he wore some extremely dumb outfit back in 2.0 and gave him a proper one here

There was also no significant time jump between 2.0 and 3.0. Don't mean to sound snide; and sorry if I do, but what were you expecting? Growth is a slow process not an explosive one, both figuratively and literally.

Also I'm not sure how far you are, but he grows quite a bit...

He is maturing, but only as fast as one would expect. remember hope had a very long time to get to the point that he did, whereas Alphinaud has had give or take a year.

I saw one of my FC mates say that Alphinaud gained a coat...and that the coat made him look more mature. (not sure if this is a spoiler)

Doesn't help that for the longest time during ARR I couldn't tell the difference between Alpuhinad and Allisae until an fc mate told me to look at their ribbon colors. Androgyny for the win.
