Shield Swipe is Even More Useless - Suggestion: Copy DRK Low Blow Mechanics

Sorry, time to bring this up again.

The new skills post 50 have actually make Shield Swipe usage even less desirable. There is simply no room for a skill that randomly goes off and consumes an entire gcd window. Paladins will be focusing on timing Rage of Halon and Goring Blade and Shield Swipe has no room in the rotation. Additionally you are far better off simply pushing for Royal Authority rather than spending a GCD window on Shield Swipe if you are looking for damage. And of course an off tank Paladin will never use Shield Swipe.

The enmity bonus added is too unreliable to be useful. In fact it actually blows my mind a bit that this effect was even added. First, you can't reliably open up with it, even with Shelltron because many mobs use spells or other unblock-able attacks such as breath attacks. Second some mobs open early with telegraph moves meaning they aren't attacking you to set off Shield Swipe. Finally, it can't get aggro back because if you are trying to get aggro back, that means the enemy isn't even hitting you to proc the skill in the first place.

I appreciate that a lot of enemies are now effected by Pacify but the window of opportunity to actually make it useful to stop a skill (taking into account the GCD and random activation) simply is not there often enough to make it all that desirable.

Suggestion:

Rework Shield Swipe to function much like the Dark Knight Low Blow mechanic. Simply take it off of the global cooldown and make it an instant skill, add a 30ish second cooldown on the skill, make it always available and give it a 20% chance to reset the cooldown on a successful shield block.

This change would make it far more usable for the main tank and actually make it usable for an off-tank Paladin. It would also keep with the spirit of tying successful shield blocks to the skill.

Use it when it procs and get some extra enmity and a net gain in TP. Also, the Pacification could be useful if you use it for that, though please note, Pacification stops combat arts and not spells so be careful what you use it on.

TP is almost never a problem and when it is Ninjas are there; and you don't need the extra enmity. You are hurting yourself by using it rather than using the GCD to advance a combo.

What is the enmity modifier on Shield Swipe? Because anything more than a 2 means it's better than Fast Blade, a 3 makes it better than a combo'd Savage Blade and it'd need a 5 to beat out Rage of Halone for enmity. Having said that, even with just a 2 or 3 it'd still be useful for enmity on secondary targets.

OP, the DRK skill you are referring to is "reprisal", not low blow (the kick stun).

Honestly I wouldn't mind if swipe was oGCD. Just give it a very small cooldown, lower than reprisal because atm 30secs feels too long for that skill especially with it being tied to parry...

It's a pretty good skill to use in a longer fight. It's a net gain of potency compared to your average GCD in the Halone combo. It's only 20 less than the Royal Authority combo (230 average pot), with more average hate, as long as it's modifier is ~that of savage blade's. And it gives you a way to regain TP.

Clearly you wouldn't want to interrupt the Goring Blade combo, but you're not going to use that before the DoT runs out anyway.

With minimal SS we should be able to swipe twice per goring.

Goring is 24 seconds

1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2- goring is 8 GCD. Leaving room for 2 swipes if your GCD is 2.4 or less.

As an OT we want to 11 GCDs in for royal x3 between goring.

24/11 is 2.18 which will be harder to achieve. So we can stack SS or just let goring fall off for a second.
