Why isn't my ring working in Western Coerthas?

As title says, why is my wedding ring not working? There is no indication of anything, is this a bug???

My wife and i have the same problem. We think it's because we can't fly yet, and if rings worked in flying zones for people who can't fly, they could get stuck. We're hoping that we'll be able to use the rings once we can fly in that area...

I have reason to believe it has to deal with the fact Squeenix doesn't want people who are in the expansion areas bringing non-expansion people into them.

Uh, sure, but what about people who are both in the expansion? :P I was like, 300 yalms from her, same zone, too lazy to walk, ring didn't work :(

I was actually going to ask, does your partner have the xpac? I don't actually have a wedding ring but if it works like how I'm thinking, it probably has to do with one or the other not having the xpac (and I assume you do.)

As well not being able to fly shouldn't be it, unless the player somehow never got teleport, which I believe is impossible to do before getting married.

Edit: Person above basically answered my question. Probably a bug and should go into the bug report forum.

Edit 2: And person below gives a possible explanation. No idea if you have to do that for ARR areas!

Ooooh, interesting. We wouldn't know because we had both explored 100% of the outdoor ARR areas before marriage came out.

If you can teleport anywhere on the map then you can bring your partner into areas that can not be accessed without flight allowing them to by pass certain story and quest restrictions in place. That is most likely why it doesn't work. If it did married couples could have a good advantage over other players in these new zones.

So if you and your partner can both fly, the ring should work?

Teleport now works for us since we both have flying unlocked in Dravanian Foreclands and Coerthas Western as well as those maps fully opened. Not sure which did the trick.
