What is the point of an expansion if the servers can't handle the load

This is just typical of Square Enix, come out with a expansion without the capabilities of handling the load. They did the same thing in FFXI, now they are doing it here. They fail to plan for all the extra players that come alive when an expansion comes out and regular players like myself suffer while the people who haven't played in who knows how long get right in. SOOOOOOO STUPID!

Right now is my only free time and I can't even play cause I can't log in. Yea they say wait some time and try again, I'm not a machine SQUARE! I can't stay up all night, I have a job and responsibilites. So lame.

Whats the point, may quit this dumb game, take your expansion and shove it!

Certainly isn't the first time an MMO had issues with launch of the game or an expansion. Nor is this the worst that's ever happened.

What bothers me more is Square's completely convoluted system between the mog station, the servers, and the lodestone... Trying to get a friend to start playing, he downloaded the client from the main site- surprise, surprise, you have to download an identical client from the trial site only, meaning uninstalling and redownloading another 20gb file. Finally get it done, get through character creation, and guess what? Even though their character restrictions show our server as open, it's not allowing new character creation. Would have been nice to know before we wasted hours of our time.

Not having any problems on my server. Only one person in my fc seemed to have any. And theirs was resplved quickly.

Just a giant money grab. If I didn't have friends here I liked. I'd be long gone.

This is how I look at it.

If this expansion as you say is "pointless". Why not just take off a week or two ? Surely you can time off playing something that meaningless after all. Enjoy the fresh air. By time you return in a week or two servers will be all back to normal.

However if you MUST play and experience the expansion on the first week of release, then it has a lot of value and is direct opposite of meaningless.
