AST can ignore Accuracy requirements

Combust(240 total potency) and Combust II (450 total potency) both have no initial hit.

So weaving cleric stance is quite rewarding.

AST is a busy Healer. If you want to relax as a Healer and "just heal" then AST isn't really the best for you. They will be buffing and dpsing on top of healing.

2/3 healers can ignore ACC. Good news for AST I guess

I don't plan on DPSing while healing. I was happy to see the cards will give me something else to do.

Laziness is not the only factor for a lack of healer DPS, and a healer that stays on top of things absolutely makes a meaningful contribution to the party. I myself can't wait to push this job hard when I get my hands on it, but it doesn't change the fact that there will remain healers that play any class that choose not to DPS for whatever reason. At least an AST will provide something else on top.

This is good news, but AST will still likely be the "primary healer" in SCH/AST comps. But this makes it easier for them to just keep up both of their dots over the fight or most of it.

AST looks like solid fun overall.

I for one will not be doing heal/DPS unless I feel very comfortable with the group and job. And for the one who says that not contributing, did you die? I call that contributing. If you want to say a healer that doesn't DPS in a party is not contributing then I would say that all the BLM, SMN, and any other DPS or tank job that can equip a cure spell and doesn't help heal with their DPS/tanking are also not contributing. Food for thought.

If DPS and tanks attempting to cast heals helped push the goalpost closer, that analogy would be valid. However, because completion of objectives is dependent on total party DPS, it's almost always not.

Healers contributing DPS when they can snd should do so is about supporting the party's efforts; dedicated DPS blowing their GCD timers to cast redundant heals is not a benefit to the party. This is why AST will (or should) use their DPS tools as appropriate, especially since they have DoTs without a hit check.

Problems with that, 1, healing doesn't kill the boss, and 2, heals from classes with low MIND are so ineffective that it's a complete waste of time. The same can not be said for healer's dpsing, as a healer doing 250 dps is going to be considerably more help than a healer who is just standing there doing nothing in downtime.

Yes, that's all more or less true. It's not really the point of the discussion, though; stating why certain gameplay is more optimal than other gameplay isn't the same thing as trying to somehow force players to play differently.

That being said, we all pay a fee and all have the right to hold a reasonable expectation that others will play the game in good faith. I won't criticize a player for not being amazing when they are clearly trying, but I don't appreciate deliberate laziness detracting from the entertainment for which I, too, am paying.
