did i miss it?

read the patch notes twice now, noticing something missing...I seen nothing about doing something with these gold spammers that have rendered this game solo only. Now you cant send friend requests on a trial account, great stops that. Now for the 100's of tells I get a day, perhaps its time to adjust this?

You can use /busy.

Also those are preliminary notes so it's not the full notes.

my complaint was I don't wanna play the game in solo mode, which is what busy does, but if I don't do that then my chat log is useless anyway as the gold spam tells are far to consistent to maintain a conversation. so busy doesn't help at all but thanks for that *rolls eyes*

I think the /busy is why they are saying they have "rendered this game into a solo game" lol.

I come from FFXI >.> my friends and I are in the same FC, but we're also IRL friends, so we often /t about stuff that is more real life, and not game related so we dont fill up fc chat or ls chat with it. With /busy you can't get any tells, I know this isn't hard for some of the "new school" breed of mmo players, but for those of us who like to /t our friends, its not a real option. The gil spam wasn't this bad in xi though, so you could easily /t a friend with almost no interruption. In this game its awful because people need to buy clears for content for some reason that is easy enough to do if they were actually social.

I wasn't saying it was a permanent solution, only that it's what we have now :P I agree more needs to be done. But I'm not sure what you want them to do about /tells. If trial accounts/<X level accounts can't send tells, new players will have a lot of trouble getting help or answers answered if they have a friend to play with....otherwise they'd have to carry on conversations in /shout, which might be overrun with gil-spam anyways if /tell becomes restricted.

What's your proposed solution, though?

Well a work around for that would be joining a party together and then going busy, no tells and keep the conversation between you guys, but I admit we shouldn't have to do these types of methods just to communicate without being pestered

Well methods to combat Gil sellers/botters are never listed to not give the bot users/spammers a heads up. As with every MMO (that I've played at least).

Trial accounts can't use /yell /shout and /tell its always been this way.
The game is so cheap on PC I would be surprised if any of these bots even run on a trial account.
So if anything this will have done nothing to fix the problem.

The only thing I can think that would have an usefulness would be just to have a modified busy mode that did everything that busy does but white lists your friend list so that you can still interact with those you want to.

Try a different server. I have never ever seen spam or advertising of any kind.

Trial accounts can't sent friend requests now, that's at least something.
