Prospective game pad problems with the increasing number of abilities.

With 5 more abilities, that'll be literally every available cross-hotbar slot taken up. (taking into account cross-class abilities)

This is not significant right at this moment, but in the FUTURE! If we break the level cap again, that's going to cause UI problems that will make effectively using a gamepad very difficult.

I mainly bring this up to make the concern known. Thoughts anyone?

I can see the issue. While I dont think the new abilities will effect it that much, any more and there will be issues. I would like to add, that I wish there was a way to adjust targeting other people, especially in raids. Like adding the alliences to the side of our current party list. But that might get too cluttered.

This is a valid concern IMO, but have faith.
Yoshi plays this game with a controller. He will never let controllers be swept under the rug.

My guess is they will somehow implement a second crossbar.

Right now, you can get a crossbar with pressing both the shoulder buttons. In the future, I will hope we can have a combination of other buttons to bring up a new crossbar to complement new abilities.

Or a new way to cycle through your hotbars on the fly without breaking continuity. Maybe holding a button for an amount of time to change it to second hotbar, do your abilities and then release to get your initial hotbar again.

Yeah. Definitely will make me want to play with my 360 controller again.

We need gamepads with more buttons :O

I liked the way it was in 1.xx to be honest. I don't understand why we can't use the regular hotbars like we did back then. Now with a class that has to move I am essentially limited to 8 skills.

I know what you're saying, face buttons.
But you are wrong. You are "limited" to 16 skills.

What would be cool imo is where you can have buttons change after a condition is met. This would at least be very helpful for main combos. An example, using pld, would be like you use Fast blade. The fast blade icon would turn to savage blade and another button would become riot blade. Then if you use Savage blade, the savage blade button becomes RoH and then the riot blade button becomes PLD's new move Royal authority. On the other hand if you use Riot blade, one of the buttons becomes PLD's new move Glory blade or w/e. Assuming they just keep extending the same tree's and branch them out it would allow for two buttons to always be used for every combo move, unless they extend it to 3 options some where along the "skill tree".

Macros are extremely helpful right now, though it does limit how buffs can be stacked. Using the paladin as an example, it will make sense to still just use the Halone combo, using the new dps combo in an OT capacity or on bosses like the SV HM final boss. Though eventually threat could be maintained enough to allow for the dps combo to get worked in. Only using Halone is more from my experience in pugs.
