Switching DoW retainer to another DoW class SHOULD NOT reset level

For players in the upcoming heavensward expansion, it's clear that many players will be trying out the new classes and switching their main class potentially.

However this poses a problem for their current retainers. Imagine if you main DRG and made your retainer a lv.50 DRG. Now you want to try to main DRK when heavensward releases and assume you have reached lv.60 with it already.

The current problem is that if you want your retainer to be a lv.60 DRK you have to completely reset its level, losing all your progress from lv.50.

But this is wrong and I'll tell you why.

There is absolutely no difference in what a DoW retainer can potentially gather, regardless of class. You can have a WHM or a WAR retainer, they both fall under the category of a disciple of war (DoW) and thus will be able to gather the same items.

So why is it that DoW retainer classes when switched to another DoW loses its level progress?

So much levelling progress is lost if it's resetted to lv.1 and having your retainer to be your desired class is very important because you can gear that retainer with leftover gear very easily.

I understand there is a difference between switching your retainer between gathering (DoL) classes. If you have a lv.50 botanist and miner, if you were able to freely switch your retainer bewteen the two classes and still be lv.50 then you have much more flexibility in what you want your retainer to gather. SE would honestly encourage us to buy another retainer instead for more money instead.

But again for DoW there is no difference in what each class can potentially gather. They all can gather exactly the same items. So this flexibility option isn't as valuable and the level reset honestly feels too much.

That is why I propose that when switching your DoW retainer to another DoW class (for the sake of gearing and reaching the new level cap), their level progress should not be fully reset as there is no exploitation for switching amongst these classes.

For specifics on ideas on DoW class change, say if you wanted to switch from a lv.50 DRG to say a lv.30 DRK (because your DRK is only lv.30) your retainer should be resetted to lv.25 DRK. But it shouldn't be resetted all the way. In fact, if you had a lv.50 DRG and a lv.60 DRK and resetted your retainer class, it should still stay lv.50 (and not a free lv.55) where you can level it back up). This way your progress isn't completely lost and it's very easy to switch your retainer to another DoW class if you have already put in the effort to level up the class yourself on your main character.
