I am super disappointed as a new player coming to play FF. I have been waiting over a week to play on Gilgamesh with my friends and its getting more discouraging as the server on the website says character creation is open and when I go into the game it isn't. When are they going to fix this, I am really frustrated.
Ok here's the thing about character creation limitations: these limitations are in place on highly populated servers to encourage (force) players to form communities on smaller servers, I'm effect helping to spread out the population over all. So good luck.
Now what she people do, is wait until a stupid early time in the morning, like 3 or 4, when the least ammount of people are playing. And boom less people means no restriction at that moment.
Two things that may help:
1. The page that displays those restrictions is only updated every few hours, but the actual restrictions are updated more frequently (so the page tells you whether it was open at the last update but not necessarily whether it's open now).
2. http://www.world-alerts.com/
Use the in game server list. It updates by the minute. The website only updates every 4 hours, so it is frequently behind.
I created one last night. But it was 2 am PST. Try odd times, even if you have to get up. :)
