LOL i literally just made a post with you. It's a constant stream now of gil spams on our server bro.
It's worse if you hang out in the housing districts. Which doesn't make sense to me since I'm there because I already have one...
pplleassee for the love of all thats holy dont simply say "insert country here" needs blocked to fix the gil farm/spam. Yes I am aware that a large number of the bots probably are from countries like china as thats a big thing over there but simply blocking the IP is unfair to those who are not bots. Im american currently staying in singapore and had to deal with game companies putting entire region blocks on the whole "SEA" region becuz they claim its where all the gold farmer/spammers are from.(which separated me from playing with irl friends). Which is extremely unfair to those of us who had to move outside of our home country to this region due to work/family etc. I play on the US servers becuz I still want to play with my friends from XI and my IRL family members.
Plus there is no actual evidence that states our current gil spammers/bot problem are from china, China has its own server/version of FFXIV ARR atm so I am sure most of the bots from china are over there spamming and wut not.
Thing is, you answered your own topic with the title itself. You know why they are doing it, so how much power do you think SE has to prevent it. They've been banning and banning, but it doesn't stop new accounts from being made and yes it comes down to ease of access. So you want to just not allow people to send tells unless they are on friendlist? New players regardless of sub fee can't send tells til they hit lv 20? How far down the rabbit hole do you go before you just add in restrictions that penalize those who would use it in the proper manner.
So you receive let's say 5-20 RMT tells depending on how long you are on, potentially 3k-6k people on at a given time, so because .3% of the server population is using the tell system for gil spam messages it means that SE should put a restriction that prevents whisper communication?
If only it were that simple. The the SF Bay Area, for example, small papers from the surrounding communities have ads written to look like articles in them that advertise work at local RMT farms, more or less aimed at immigrants. It becomes impossible to nuke those whole IP blocks because they'd take out who knows how many thousands of legitimate users as well.
