A Relic Reborn and Heavensward

I returned to the game after a long break and completed the story quests before the expansion hits. I haven't done the relic weapon questline and the game seems to list it as class quest (BLM icon).

Can I continue class/job quests in Heavensward without completing the questline or are the next quests unlocked only after completing the questline?

Relic weapons are not a requirement to progress.

However, you do get job-relevant title for completing the original (2.0) questline.
