So about those radioactive trees

In the Shroud there are some trees, that when approached, emit a green and red wave of light. I have discovered these types of trees by The Hawethorne Hut, and on Bloatbelly's eastern spawn point.

So...WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THESE!?

I MUST SAY THEY ARE VERY PRETTY. AND THAT ERIE NOISE THEY MAKE

If you face those trees, on Earthday, while crafting with a rank 22 main hand tool, you have a 5% higher HQ rate, but only if it's raining.

...or it's just for decoration.

I remember reading in a quest that there are some trees in the forest that can repair gear to 100% or something maybe thats it?

Weren't those gathering points? I remember wayyyy back in the day when people grinded efts there was one at the far east eft camp at treespeak and it turned out to be a btn point?
