I just got the Lotus Pink Chocobo, which took forever and then some to get for me, and I am wondering if there is a way I can set it to not have a barding on at all.
I really love the color and want to see its feathers in their full glory.
On the appearance tab of the Companion window, where you'd normally select the head, body, or legs slots to choose which barding to use, right clicking (or square button on controller) will bring up a menu with the "unequip" option. (This does leave them with a small saddle and bridle, but it covers less than any of the regular barding options. It should suffice for showing off those pretty lotus pink feathers.)
Note that the only way you can change gear on your bird is while it is not in the stable.
