Evasion Stat Effect on AoE Damage?

I've been playing for a while, and I've never really thought about it, but does the evasion stat have any effect on enemy AoE attacks, or are they purely a "get out of the targeted area or take damage" sort of thing? If it doesn't have an effect on them, does that mean that it only gives you an evade chance against the enemy basic attacks? If so, doesn't that make the "Featherfoot" skill completely useless in party content? I'm just curious on this, and was wondering if anyone had any answers.....

Don't have a solid answer for your question outside of the fact that there's been a time or two where I just decided to not move and get a cast off instead inside of an AOE and had it come up and say "Dodged" before. Could have just been RNG but I know those ground AOE's can be dodged.

You can dodge most marked AoEs, but enemy accuracy is generally insanely high, it doesn't happen often, even with featherfoot.
