Reclaim land from inactive accounts post 3.0?

With 3.0 coming out some inactive accounts will be reactivated some will not.
Are there any plans to reclaim land from inactive accounts post 3.0?



My wife and I have enough gil to get a small plot, and we want to get married IG, however we would like a house to share and currently there aren't any.

I would hope this house cleaning per say would happen before adding any more zones.

Inactive is someone not paying for sub.
Not someone who isn't logging in.

They need to implement the 31day inactivity penalty they mentioned once upon a time I've changed my stance on this a little in further posts but some people seem to get stuck on this. I cant say how long it should be but perhaps 31 days after the persons subscription runs out or something else. There needs to be some cut off period where houses are assumed abandoned. Without an unlimited amount of housing plots available you cant just keep a plot indefinitely. Just set up all items to be returned to the calamity salvager along with the reimbursement of funds. It doesnt matter when you set this line, some people wont be happy but we need it. why would someone need to keep their plot if they havent subbed in 3 years, yet someone who plays every day is homeless cause none are available. There also needs to be other restrictions like one house per account/player/character (take your pick).

Regardless, the housing as it is needs some attention, its not utter garbage, but with SE adding in more content directly linked to it there are going to be people locked out of content for no other reason than just not being there in time. It becomes an unattainable goal.

This is why i suggest the refund and placing items back in a salvager instead of disappearing into the ether cause I know 3.0 will bring back some players that may have taken an extended break.

I am against reclaims because I couldn't play for a year. If I had a house I would have been screwed.

As far as reimbursement of funds it would need to be minimum plot value returned not what was paid. This way it become a gil sink as well.

If a reclaim system is implemented, I doubt SE would give you your gil back directly, since that would flood the economy, and also be a loophole to get around the gil sink if you ever decide you don't want a house anymore.

More than likely if they did this, they'd follow suit of pretty much every MMO I've played that had public housing, which was to give you a voucher for another plot/house of equal value to what you had.

Meh, it's kind of a bad move to remove the plot from someone just because they're inactive. A lot of things can make you stay away from the game for more than a month. Does not mean they're not coming back.

They just need to add more plots/make differences instances of the housing area.

I'm sure myself and many others who are in favor of a reclaim system for inactive accounts, would very much prefer that SE adds more plots. However as they've stated their difficulties with this, a reclaim system seems to be the best way to clear up plots for active subscribers. I will say though that 30 days is a quite a short amount of time, I'd be more comfortable with 90 or 180 days.

Personally I don't really think it's fair to reclaim housing plots, people paid large sums of gil for those and they should get to keep them. What you should really be asking for is more housing plots. Essentially it would be hurting players in order to give SE a free pass on their bad implementation of housing.

SE actually had plans to start reclaiming housing plots already but those were met with a lot of controversy because they stated from the get go that if they were going to reclaim plots the buyers would not get their gil back. As far as I can tell the idea was never put into place. To me that was a good move on their part because let's face it, things can occur that can leave you unable to play the game due to the subscription costs. Unexpected vet bill for example or various other possibilities. When fufu needs surgery and you have to take a break for a while because you simply can't afford to play, I don't think you should be punished for it.

SE has handled housing very poorly, Yoshi himself said that personal housing and FC housing would be separate and they are not. Additionally there are only enough plots for a very small percentage of the more populated servers. I believe they have good intentions and plan to eventually have enough plots to go around but it turned out to be a bigger hurdle than they anticipated. Once there are a decent amount of plots there won't be any more reason to ask for a reclaim.

That'd be great. But it's ultimately only a temporary solution.
After the initial rush, we'll be in the same position we're in now.

Then they need to fix the issue with availability. There are a lot of options to do this and it needs to be done. I hate that within 10min of land coming available on my server, they get sold out. This is a stupid way to do Personal Housing (FC housing like this isnt bad though).
