Pre-load

so I don't know if it is possible but would we be able to preload/pre-download Heavensward. reason is my net is not fast and would like to be able to play day one of early access.;)

IIRC, for the release of ARR (early access) you were able to DL the game before the official launch.

We will all download at same time when they patch it in.

You will most likely be able to download the new client a few days or a few hours before early access (around ~1.6GB)

But when servers go up after the expansion is released (early access) there are sure gonna be patches that you will have to download before you can play. They might be small, or they might not...

My guess is that the patch for the full release will not be small. Not as large as the full download for the expansion obviously, but still fairly large so that all the new content will be compatible with entering old areas, and thus compatible for players without the content to see and interact with, (Read: materials, armor, weapons, mounts, and minions)......

Dont forget those who are dling the dx11 version as well, hopefully it is released around the 15 that would be nice ^_-.

Also expect at least a day's worth of server downtime prior to it (which would probably be on the day before early access - this is a massive addition to the game so SE will need to do a lot of tinkering under the hood so to speak.).

Eh? WHere did 1.6GB come from? Can't e that small.

The PSA thread for the PSN purchase of Heavensward said that the content would be 1.7GB, so assuming that's the size of the new content. It would be nice if you could download the main content at the beginning of down time before playing it.

That sounds incredibly small for an expansion. But then again the patch is probably split into 2. The first patch being important for compatibility and all the necessary assets needed for character and mount and stuff. The other from the expansion being the new areas and quest and other assets for it.

What I wanna know is if SE gonna do this patch on Tuesday and lock all content til Friday (which would make sense with the reset and tomes) or pull the game down for those 3 days til Friday (highly doubt this tho). It was easy for beta to 2.0 but this one is a bit different lol. If I remember correctly, XI updated the game the day before the expansion release. There was no early access for XI. I'm curious on how they will go about doing this. Since this one has early access, we'll have download the entire expansion to have full compatibility and no odd or weird after effect to cause a server rollback.
