Vertical sync goes bonkers when supersampling.

It's a bit weird to have two topics on the front page of the same forum, but it's a slow moving forum, so hey.

Getting to the point, I have a 60hz monitor, so I'm aiming to get a 60 FPS lock from vertical sync. If I set the resolution to anything above native res (3440x1440), then all in-game vertical sync options lock the frame rate to 40FPS. Using the nvidia control panel to force AA and turning off in-game AA does the same thing.

I'm using two GTX 980's for reference.

Is there any way around this? I'd like to not have to choose between horrendous aliasing or screen tearing.
